Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu has confirmed that his upcoming annual policy address will serve as a formal progress report on the city's five-year development plan.
Lee described the simultaneous consultation of the two documents as "especially meaningful," signaling a tighter integration between short-term policy measures and long-term strategic goals.
The chief executive held a town hall-style meeting in Tuen Mun on Sunday, joined by senior ministers, where he engaged with more than 130 residents.
The session was designed to gather public feedback on the proposed roadmap, with Lee pledging to consider the views expressed during the consultation in the final policy document.
This development follows Lee's earlier designation of artificial intelligence as the "central plank" of Hong Kong's economic strategy.
The administration has been pushing a decisive policy shift to capture growth in the technology sector, aiming to diversify the city's economy beyond its traditional financial and trade hubs.
