Indian equity markets closed sharply higher on Monday, with benchmark indices posting significant gains as investor sentiment shifted decisively to the upside.

The BSE Sensex rose 544.39 points, or 0.70%, to finish at 78,639.03, while the Nifty 50 surged 390.70 points to reclaim the 24,750 level.

On Thursday, Indian markets had already staged a decisive rebound, with the Sensex climbing 386 points to 77,309 and the Nifty 50 gaining 117 points to 24,123.

The rally was broad-based, driven primarily by strong performance in the information technology and banking sectors, which helped erase recent losses and extend the market's recovery momentum.

The move marks a continuation of the bullish trend that began earlier in the week.
