The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) benchmark KSE-100 index opened the week with strong upward momentum, climbing more than 2,100 points to close above the 178,000 mark on Monday.

The sharp advance marks a continuation of the positive trajectory seen in recent sessions, with bulls firmly in control as market sentiment improved.

The index had also seen significant upward momentum in early trade, climbing more than 4,000 points at one stage, highlighting the market's sensitivity to geopolitical developments and energy price movements.

The rally was largely fueled by a slump in global oil prices, which tumbled after US President Donald Trump announced that fresh talks with Iran would begin later in the day.

Lower energy costs are a significant tailwind for Pakistan, a net importer of crude, as they help alleviate pressure on the current account and reduce inflationary risks.

This development follows a period of volatility for the KSE-100, which had staged a dramatic turnaround earlier in the week by surging more than 2,500 points to end a two-day losing streak.

The index had also seen significant upward momentum in early trade, climbing more than 4,000 points at one stage, highlighting the market's sensitivity to geopolitical developments and energy price movements.
