Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) has entered into a contract with Canada-based Synergetic Oil Tools Inc. to deploy advanced Passive Energy Tool technology across its heavy oil wells in Pakistan.
The agreement aims to enhance production efficiency and flow assurance in challenging reservoir conditions, marking a strategic step for the state-run operator to optimize existing assets.
The move comes as OGDC continues to expand its domestic supply base.
The company recently commenced gas production at its Sahito-1 well and started oil production from the Bobi Deep-1 well in Sindh's Sanghar district.
These operational milestones, combined with the new technology partnership, signal an intensified focus on maximizing output from Pakistan's mature and heavy oil fields.
While the contract itself does not immediately alter global supply dynamics, it reflects broader efforts by national oil companies in emerging markets to adopt specialized technologies for difficult-to-extract resources.
