Petrobras and Ecopetrol have confirmed a natural gas discovery at the Sandía-1 exploratory well, located approximately 42 kilometers off the coast in water depths of 1,285 meters.
The announcement marks a tangible step forward for the joint venture's exploration efforts in the region, validating the geological potential of the block.
The discovery comes as Petrobras continues to demonstrate exploration success across its portfolio.
Earlier this year, the Brazilian state oil company confirmed a new oil discovery at the Sudoeste de Tartaruga Verde block in the Campos Basin, located about 108 kilometers off the Brazilian coast.
That find represented the first concrete exploration result from that specific area, signaling renewed productivity in Petrobras' deepwater operations.
