Castor Maritime has agreed to acquire a 2023-built Kamsarmax bulk carrier for $37.5 million, the company announced on Tuesday.

The Greek shipping group signed the deal through a subsidiary to purchase the eco-efficient vessel from an unrelated third party.

The acquisition underscores the continued appetite for modern, fuel-efficient tonnage among mid-cap owners.

With geopolitical tensions persisting in key trade routes, operators are prioritizing vessels that can navigate both regulatory pressures and volatile freight markets.

The Kamsarmax segment remains a critical component of the global dry bulk trade, particularly for iron ore and coal shipments.

According to Naftemporiki, the vessel was constructed by HD Hyundai Samho and delivered on June 17, 2026.
