MPICO, a Malawian insurer and member of the Old Mutual Group, has declared a dividend of MK1.149 billion for the 2025 financial year.

The payout equates to 50 Tambala per share, marking a notable increase from the previous year's distribution of MK988.1 million.

General Manager Stella Sokosa announced the figures on Monday in Blantyre during a stakeholders' engagement hosted by the company.

She attributed the growth in distributable profits to improved rent collection and higher valuations of the firm's assets.

The declaration underscores the insurer's ability to generate returns for shareholders despite broader economic headwinds in the region.

As part of the Old Mutual Group, MPICO's performance is often viewed as a barometer for the stability of the local insurance sector.
