Castor Maritime has agreed to acquire two modern Kamsarmax bulk carriers, strengthening its fleet with eco-efficient tonnage.
The Athens-listed shipping group announced the deals through separate fully controlled subsidiaries, purchasing the M/V Magic Saturn, built in 2024, and another vessel from unrelated third parties.
The acquisitions reflect a strategic push to modernize the fleet amid shifting global trade dynamics.
The move comes as shipping markets navigate persistent geopolitical pressures on major trade routes.
While freight rates have faced volatility due to disruptions in key chokepoints, Castor’s decision to invest in newer, fuel-efficient vessels suggests management sees long-term value in optimizing operational costs.
The Kamsarmax class, known for its flexibility in carrying both iron ore and coal, is well-positioned to serve diverse cargo demands.
