Godrej Agrovet has inaugurated India’s first integrated oil palm complex in Telangana, a move that consolidates its position in the domestic edible oils market.

The facility, which the company describes as a seed-to-refinery operation, represents a cumulative investment of INR 300 crore ($36 million).

By bringing cultivation, processing, and refining under one roof, the company aims to reduce dependency on imported crude palm oil and mitigate supply chain volatility.

The launch underscores a broader strategic shift among Indian agribusinesses toward vertical integration.

With edible oils accounting for a significant portion of India’s import bill, domestic capacity expansion is increasingly viewed as a hedge against global price swings and geopolitical disruptions in key producing regions like Southeast Asia.

The Telangana complex is designed to support Godrej Agrovet’s long-term growth plans by ensuring a steady flow of raw materials to its refineries.
