Hyundai Motor Group is moving to acquire the remaining stake in Boston Dynamics, effectively making the U.S. robotics company a wholly owned subsidiary.

The transaction follows SoftBank Group’s decision to exercise its put option for its 9.65 percent holding in the robotics firm, according to sources cited by Yonhap.

The deal marks the final step in Hyundai’s consolidation of control over Boston Dynamics, which it initially acquired a majority stake in earlier.

By removing SoftBank as a minority partner, Hyundai gains full strategic autonomy over the robotics pioneer’s development and commercialization roadmap.

This move aligns with the automaker’s broader push to integrate advanced robotics and autonomous technologies into its mobility ecosystem.

For investors, the acquisition signals Hyundai’s commitment to deepening its technological moat beyond traditional automotive manufacturing.
