The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has finalized a major leadership overhaul, appointing Roberto Mancini as the new head coach of the national team and Claudio Ranieri as technical director and president of the Club Italia.
Federation president Gabriele Malago confirmed the appointments during a press conference, stating that a third key executive role will be filled by the end of the week.
The moves come shortly after the high-profile departures of Paolo Maldini and Leonardo, whose exits were described by Malago as amicable separations without controversy.
Mancini, who previously led Italy to Euro 2020 victory, returns to the national setup amid efforts to stabilize the team’s performance and strategic direction.
Ranieri, a veteran manager with extensive European experience, will oversee technical operations and player development.
The rapid succession of appointments suggests the FIGC is prioritizing immediate structural clarity over prolonged search processes.
