Jammu & Kashmir Bank reported an 11.5% decline in net profit for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, with earnings falling to ₹428.80 crore from ₹484.53 crore in the same period last year.

The private sector lender’s results underscore the ongoing profitability challenges facing regional banks in India, even as top-line metrics show modest improvement.

Net interest income (NII) also edged up by 2% to ₹1,497 crore.

Total income for the June quarter rose to ₹3,765 crore, up from ₹3,521 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.

Net interest income (NII) also edged up by 2% to ₹1,497 crore.

However, these gains were insufficient to counterbalance rising operational costs and provisions, leading to the contraction in bottom-line results.

The divergence between income growth and profit decline suggests that margin expansion remains elusive for the lender.
