Nigeria’s crude oil production reached 1.56 million barrels per day (mbpd) in June, marking the highest output level since April 2020.
The figure represents a continued recovery in the West African nation’s upstream sector, following a similar increase in May that pushed output to approximately 1.7 mbpd, a 15-month high.
This surge has seen Nigerian production consistently exceed its assigned OPEC quota in recent months.
The production rebound is being driven by sustained improvements in pipeline security and operational efficiency.
Recent enforcement actions, including the destruction of illegal refineries in Rivers State and the recovery of significant volumes of petroleum products by the navy, have contributed to stabilizing the supply chain.
These efforts are reversing years of output losses caused by theft and infrastructure sabotage.
