Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd (SHH) is expanding its physical footprint in Johor through the acquisition of four freehold land parcels in Sunway City Iskandar Puteri.

The company’s 99.9%-owned subsidiary, Sunway Medical Centre Sdn Bhd (SMC), has agreed to purchase the assets for RM45.37 million ($9.6 million).

The land, which measures a combined area suitable for medical facility development, will support the group’s long-term strategy to consolidate its healthcare presence in the Iskandar Malaysia region.

The move underscores SHH’s commitment to vertical integration and asset ownership in high-growth corridors.

By securing freehold titles in Iskandar Puteri, the company positions itself to develop specialized medical centers or expand existing services without the constraints of leasehold limitations.

This aligns with broader trends among Malaysian healthcare providers who are increasingly prioritizing owned assets to enhance balance sheet stability and long-term revenue visibility.
