DEPA Eforias has successfully executed its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) delivery to Bulgartransgaz at the floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Alexandroupoli, Greece.
The transaction, which involved 500 GWh of LNG, was completed following the Greek trading arm’s successful participation in an international tender launched by the Bulgarian gas transporter on April 30.
This initial shipment establishes a formal supply link between the Greek terminal and the Bulgarian market, leveraging the FSRU’s capacity to serve as a regional hub for Southeast Europe.
The operational milestone underscores the growing strategic importance of the Alexandroupoli FSRU in diversifying Europe’s gas supply routes.
By enabling direct deliveries to neighboring countries like Bulgaria, the terminal reduces reliance on traditional pipeline infrastructure and enhances energy security for the Balkan region.
The successful tender process also highlights DEPA Eforias’ expanding role in international LNG trading, positioning it as a key player in the European energy landscape.
