Petrol prices in the United Arab Emirates are scheduled to increase in August, reversing the downward trend seen in July.

The adjustment reflects the ongoing volatility in global crude oil markets, where shifting geopolitical narratives—particularly regarding US-Iran tensions—continue to create uncertainty for traders and consumers alike.

This marks a sharp contrast to the previous month, when UAE petrol prices fell for the first time in five months as global crude benchmarks retreated to pre-conflict levels.

The rapid reversal underscores the fragility of the recent price relief and suggests that supply-side risks remain a dominant factor in regional energy pricing.

The volatility is not isolated to the Gulf.

In the UK, petrol prices are on track to breach the 160p per litre threshold, marking the highest level since the outbreak of the Iran conflict in February.
